This week we started on a large paper mache and wire landscape structure that we hope everyone will be able to contribute to over the coming months. Sue was in charge of applying the wet paper to the model, whilst Maureen helped to direct and manage us.

Patricia joined us again and was taking the michael out of the mache makers, whilst producing these terrific images..

Nellie and Patricia worked on this..
Meanwhile Harry made these striking paintings…

Harry also showed us the installation of some of his paintings on the second floor landing. Sue was very impressed.

Harry and his paintings
We were very happy this week as Patricia joined us for a bit of friday fun. She has a great sense of humour and entertained us with some well told saucy jokes. Spectacles, testicles, wallet, watch.

Patricia has great comic timing

Face, wheel-barrow, dog
Apparently Patricia enjoys the Exercise class, and is rather partial to men in shorts…

Terry's Venables
Meanwhile Maureen painted this dynamic orange figure…

Yeah...
Sue was busy painting and sticking and getting stuck-in.

Harry was busy, as ever, producing a multitude of small squared paintings….

And everyone was happy that Joseph was back this week, as we had missed him.

Nellie
Nellie joined us this week, and entertained us with her wry wit and tales of her working life (She was in ’service’ at Buckingham palace for many years). We all had to egg her on as she wasnt that sure of the painting lark, but we all coo’d in appreciation when we saw her painting.

Meanwhile Harry worked on some small scale works before asking for a large piece of paper and tackling the challenges of working on such a scale. The paper had been rolled up, and didnt want to lie flat so we had to weigh it down with bottles of paint on the corners.

Preliminary small work

Harry has an amazing feel for colour

This painting is reminiscent of some of Phillip Gustons later work
Sue was mixing it up again this week, using collage and gestural splashes of paint to produce this fantastic water based image…

The Art Group is back after several weeks out of action. The nasty bug that was doing the rounds has gone and everyone is keen to get going…

It’s great to get our friday group back in action.
This week saw the launch of Harry’s exhibition at Culpepper Community Garden, showing the work he has done as a member of the Elfrida Society’s Siren Arts Group.

Some of Harry's work
There was no art group this week as there was a nasty outbreak of lurgy at mildmay park, so group activities were off to try and stop everyone catching a nasty bug.
